Vegas

In effect, night no.1 went down typical Vegas style with the two of us hooked on machines at the bar (picking out the prime position as directed by USA pal Jesse, thanks J!). This was also the night we realised you could feel just as sick at the drink prices in Caesar’s Palace as gambling your next few weeks food money away! High fives for living off pizza slices for the rest of the trip!

We also went to Gordon Ramsay’s restaurant BurGR (yes, the last two letters make up his initials – don’t worry took me a minute or 20 to realise this aswell!) where we had Indian food…*JKS WE HAD BURGERS OBVS

In our walkabouts we also came across a street show. Coming from the ones in LA we had little hope but these guys were pretty amazing and had a sense of humour, which usually helps you shed a few bucks! So I end up getting pulled into the show so some acrobat man can jump over me along with 5 other unsuspecting victims from the crowd. So that was fun. But what was REALLY funny was the show we went to at night (called The Ultimate Variety Show) also required volunteers. So this is how it went down. Comedy man on stage. Man seeks to find tallest man in the room. Man points at three men circa 6 ft. Vik points to Cam. Man spots Vik point to Cam. Man asks Cam to stand. Man asks four audience men standing to reach as tall as they can. Man asks for 4 volunteers. Coincidently 4 people are standing, hands raised. Vik is delighted. Cam is terrified. Cam dresses like a woman. Humiliation takes over. It was fun. For me. He also desperately needed to pee! LOLZ

Vegas also has one of the tallest buildings in the US (you are going to hear more about tall buildings in posts to come, apparently they are a big US thing!). The Stratosphere in Vegas has a revolving restaurant at the top where you can see the whole town. During our dining experience we were asked if we wanted a picture taken. Now those who go on couples holidays know that there are rare opportunities where you both can be in the picture without asking someone to take your picture and 1, feeling awkward and 2, not 100% sure if they are going to steal your belongings together with all your previous holiday snaps! So with a hesitant approach said yes not knowing what was to come…

Not only did she make us stand up while other diners looked on as we were spinning slowly into the next table she also directed our posing. Those who know us will know we can’t really take each other seriously. So, while trying not to burst out laughing when being told to hold each others faces while gazing at each other and having other diners slowly but surely moving closer to us was the biggest challenge yet!!! So we laughed about it after…until she came back with the photos developed in an album asking if we wanted them for $130. Heelllll no!

well, this is hawkward

On the last night we got ourselves involved in some Planet Hollywood dinner at Caesars Palace then hit the slot machines for one last spin. After a few pulls a strange old man appeared, ‘ah our first lurker’ I thought. But he was kind enough to inform me that if I had raised my stake by $2 I could have just won $1000 instead of my measly $10 that I was happy (at the time) with – thanks old man, just what I wanted to hear.

After wolfing down pizza for breakfast we left Vegas the way we came in, all greased up and excited with the thoughts of what the new place had to offer.
