LA – take two

After a few cracking days at Universal Studios we decided to do the complete tourist thing and go see the Hollywood Sign (which we later found out that you can’t actually drive up close too) in the morning and go sit in the audience of Jay Leno’s ‘The Tonight Show’ in the afternoon – well that was the plan.

Stick to the plan

On our drive we stumbled across this place called the Griffith’s Observatory. Here you can learn all about Space and The Universe, now being massive fans of that sort of thing and the aspiring space cowboys that we are, our luck had certainly come in. So we gave ourselves an hour to look around then we’d head off. Now, whilst looking around (and learning) we realised that this observatory had it’s very own planetarium equipped with its own show but it wasn’t going to start for an hour and it would clash with our date with Mr Jay Leno. After about 5 seconds of hesitation the choice was obvious…

We couldn’t pass up and opportunity to go to a planetarium!! C’mon guys a planetarium!! Sorry Jay, maybe next time!

The planetarium – better than some movies I’ve seen

So one thing lead to another and we ended up staying here for a solid 6 hours and it was so worth it as when we came out of the observatory the sun was setting over LA and gave us some awesome views. Not only that but they opened up the biggest public telescope this side of the country for everyone to get a good look at Venus! Truly awesome stuff!

Yeah, we stayed here a while

I guess I should also talk about other things we did in LA. We hit up a few beaches which was only a few miles away which meant a casual 45 min – 1 hour drive, thanks LA! We also did the Hollywood thing, which turned out to be pretty overrated as it was bursting with ‘rude’ people and sub par street performers looking to take your money. If I wanted to see a bad Michael Jackson impersonation I’d be out on a Saturday night more often, tip free I might add. And that’s not to mention randoms stopping dead in front of you to take a picture of some slabs with stars on it! I’d strongly advise avoiding at all costs.

Looks bigger on TV

One of the nights we embarked on a weee trip to a theatre dinner where we got to enjoy watching some acrobatic pirates whilst chomping down on a 3 course meal. Fun!

Lets go Lakers Lets go!

One of the last things we did in LA was going to a Lakers game! At first we had a little size issue when it came to the jerseys, I’m a pretty big guy and i managed to fit into a small so that means that someone else had to go fight off some little kids for her shirt! We had some pretty awesome seats which we found out was for season ticket holders! We even saw a cheeky glimpse of Steve Merchant sitting courtside!!
