Whale hello San Diego

We arrived in San Diego after a long ass drive from Yosemite think we totalled about 9 hours of driving (which apparently over here is just casual road trip – I’ll never complain about driving to Edinburgh again!)

When we arrived at San Diego we were absolutely delighted to find out that our motel had a waffle bar inside complete with it own life sized waffle! I don’t think I’ve ever been so full and sugared up at breakfast time – the size of these things are unreal!

Day two of San Diego we decided to go to the Safari Park where we got to see some rather impressive specimens ranging from lions to elephants and we even saw a cheetah run at full speed!

At the drive in

After consulting our friend Google and speaking to a waiter in the Mexican joint that was part of our motel we found a drive in movie place called South Bay and it was just a half hour away. It’s a shame we’ve got such bad weather in Scotland because it was awesome we got two movies, De Niro’s ‘The Family’ and ‘We’re the Millers’ for seven of our dollars, – I haven’t seen a deal like that since i started shopping at Aldi!

Incase you haven’t realised we’re pretty big on animals so when we found out that there was a whale tour on offer you bet your ass we hopped on that! This was frickin amazing we actually got to see the largest animal to roam this planet, thats right my friend we got to see blue whales up close and personal. Although notably not too close as the vessel has to be 100 yards from said mammal by law – that is unless the whale moves closer to the boat which luckily for us it did a little!! This was one of our favourite moments of the trip so far!!

Man vs Food

On our last night in San Diego we went did a bit of research and found a place that was on, Man vs Food. This was definitely one of the things I wanted to do here in the States and oh golly it didn’t disappoint! The place was called Phil’s BBQ and we were warned that it would be a bit of a wait to get in (the line went all the way round the building) but it would be soo worth it and man was it!

We got ourselves two of their signature El Torro’s and some baby back ribs. The food here was probably one of the best meals I’ve ever eaten – sorry mum but your fish pies come a close second and it’s not often I struggle with food but this place almost had me beat. The spirit was wiling but the body was weak but this round belonged to man! **Vik Note**At this point picture a broken Cam lying on a couch at the entrance to the digs until our cab arrived

So that’s about it for San Diego guys. Sorry it’s taken a while to update the blog but we’ve had a couple of exhausting days in the happiest place on earth, thanks Walt! New post will be up in the next couple days! Peace out. C&VXX
